LIMITATIONS OF XSENS METERS

INFORMATION

We measure single phase flow rate of all kinds of liquids, gases and muds. We also measure fractions like water cut 0-100% or the salinity of water even. But what are the limitations of our technology, what is the scope that XSENS can’t handle?

  1. Multiphase flows: we do not measure the mix flow of gas, water and oil due to the limitations that ultrasonic technology provides for such applications. Instead, we measure single phase flows like water or gas flows and water cut in an oil flow. That being said, we can measure water cut and flow rate in a multiphase flow if the Gas Volume Fraction (GVF) is lower then 2%, or alternatively measure liquid flow in a multiphase flow if GVF is less than 30% (but no water cut can be measured in that case).
  2. Gas flow measurement at low pressure: We can not measure gas flow at pressures below 15 bar.
  3. Measurement through concrete or other outside insulations: we need to attach our transducers to the steel pipe.
