XSENS SECURES KEY US CONTRACT FOR CLAMP-ON DRILLING FLUID FLOW METERS

Xsens Flow Solutions has announced it has secured a contract to provide two of its innovative clamp-on drilling fluid flow meters to DRaaS Command LLC. The meters will be used in a US land drilling fluid application. This allows DRaaS to remotely monitor the drilling process from a central RTOC, marking another successful deployment for Xsens’ unique technology.

Advancements in Drilling Technology

This contract highlights the success of Xsens’ extensive research and development, which has led to a breakthrough in drilling fluid flow measurement. Unlike traditional, in-line meters that require significant pipeline modifications and can be expensive to install, Xsens’ clamp-on meters use ultrasonics to measure flow from the outside of the pipe. This design not only offers significant cost savings but also provides a host of operational benefits.

Benefits of Clamp-On Technology

The Xsens technology is highly accurate and can measure both water and oil-based drilling fluids. The non-intrusive nature of the meter means there is no erosion on the device and no pressure drop in the pipeline.

Installation is notably simple, taking only 2-3 hours. The meters can be used on a wide range of pipeline sizes, from 4 to 16 inches and larger. Xsens is confident that more clients in the US will continue to adopt this technology, benefiting from its efficiency and ease of use.
